Dating problem of the medieval architecture, especially in the regions with a big amount of deconstruction, due to the war conflicts, is critical not only for Russia, but for the world. Therefore, the laboratory research is intended to development of methods for determining the dating features in Russian medieval architecture and architectural decor in the locations of monuments based on the use of optical spectroscopy methods. The study of the applicability of these methods for defining the time, place and method of production, the type of dye and opalescent agent is also being conducted. The objects of investigation are the examples of the Medieval architecture of Novgorod.
